Doctor of Philosophy (2023, Simon Fraser University)
Master of Pest Management (2023, Simon Fraser University)
State-examinated Chemist and Biologist (2016, Ulm University)
My academic training began in biology and chemistry education before an early research project at Ulm University shifted my focus. I realized that chemical signals mediate most biotic interactions. I subsequently joined the Gries Lab at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I earned my PhD in Biological Sciences and a Master of Pest Management concurrently, specializing in spider chemical ecology

In October 2023, I joined Prof. Gabriele Uhl’s department at the University of Greifswald to establish my research group. We investigate fundamental questions in evolutionary and behavioral ecology. My team bridges classical field ecology with quantitative non-targeted metabolomics. We identify the specific metabolites that drive animal decision-making. Our projects test theories regarding sexual selection, sexual conflict, and community dynamics in urban environments. We generate necessary baseline data for conservation biology by measuring how environmental stressors disrupt chemical communication networks.
